How to move a topic
|
To delete a topic, just go to the top and click on Options and then Move Topic. The following screen should appear:
From this screen, you can select which forum you want to move the topic to from the dropdown menu. If you leave "Leave a Moved Link" checked, this will leave a moved link in the forum of a topic to notify users of its new location. As a result, a new topic will be started with the same topic title and topic description in the current forum, with the exception of you or whoever moves it being the thread starter. The topic icon is also set at (or whatever the theme's moved icon is) by default, and is not changeable. I have listed the variables below if you want to fully customize the topic message. Below is a screenshot of a moved link topic and how it looks in a forum:
The following variables define the moved link thread:
Code
Code {link} - A click-able link to the thread's new URL
{board} - A click-able name of the forum the topic is being moved too
After you click on Move Topic(s), your topic(s) will be successfully moved to their new home. Note that you can move multiple topics at a time to a specific forum with mass moderation (Please see other documentation for instructions on how to do this efficiently.)
What does Moving a Topic do?
Moving a Topic moves a topic or topics to any forum on your board other than the one it is currently in. This can be used if you want to move something into say, a staff forum, or if a member has posted something in the wrong place, and you want to move it to the right forum for them.
