Downloading and Uploading AEF
|
Thank you for your intrest in Advanced Electron Forums! If you are wondering how to go about getting your own copy of AEF, this short guide will help you.
Step 1: Go to the Downloads Section on the site. It\'s address is http://www.anelectron.com/downloads/
Step 2: Click on the Latest Release Link. This will take you to a page containing the latest stable AEF package. Here you will find a file for fresh install and a file for upgrade from an older AEF package. If this is your first time using AEF or you do not have an AEF forum already, you will want the AEF version number Install package.
Step 3: Click on the package that you want and save it to your computer.
And there you have it, your very own AEF package! It will be a compressed package.
Now you need to upload the software to your host site. You need to make sure that your site has the needed requirements to do this. For more information on AEF requirements, look in the Installing section of the documents section and read the Requirements guide.
Now some hosts allow you to upload the compressed package and then decompress the package there. If your host allows this, then that is by far the quickest and easiest way to upload AEF to your site.
However if it does not you will need to first decompress your package. In Linux, Ark is a great tool to do this. In Windows Izarc does this easily.
Once you have your package decompressed, you will need to upload the files to your site using an FTP program. FileZilla is an excellent choice. If you use linux and KDE, Konqueror also does a good job at this.
You need to make sure you upload every package. I would advise to upload each folder individually. You can then make sure that the packages in each folder were uploaded correctly. 9 out of 10 most errors in installing and forum usage comes from not having all the packages uploaded to your server correctly.
And that is it. You now have AEF on your site. Your next step would be to install AEF which is covered in the Install document.
